What is a Modern Age Mom?
The beauty and challenge of being a Modern Age Mom is the breadth of choices that are available to us. Each of us has the power to define who we are and how we choose to live. That said, here’s a dreamy ideal that I thought of…
A Modern Age Mom (M’AM for short!) is each one of us in our never-ending effort to “get it right” — or sometimes, just to get it all done. She may stay-at-home, she may work from home, she may be married or single, corporate or entrepreneurial. What matters most is that she has consciously and courageously chosen her path! If she’s not where she wants to be in life, she knows that she can change her direction and work on getting there.
A Modern Age Mom is self-assured and empowered. She is true to herself — and clear about what that means. A M’AM recognizes the complexity of integrating the roles of wife, partner, employer, mother, sister, friend, lover, employee, entrepreneur, educator, confidant, among many others. She knows that balance is more a state of mind than a state of being. A M’AM confidently embraces her own choices and supports those made by other women, particularly other moms. She salutes and supports other women — and men! — as they strive to live a fulfilled life.
Too idealistic? I think you’re right. I must say, right now I’m certainly not there! But it feels great to aspire and, in the meantime, to enjoy just being me.
